With over 637 square miles of rolling hills, pine forests, and sprawling fields, Smith County has a little bit of something for everyone. We are in a prime position to be your next business partner or the place you chose to call home.

The Watermelon Capital of Mississippi

You've probably heard about them at some point in your life. You may have even seen a watermelon stand advertising fresh Smith County watermelons alongside US Highway 49 between Collins and Hattiesburg or even as far away as DeSoto County! The Smith County Watermelon is no marketing gimmick, there really is a difference, and its one you have to taste to believe.

Watermelon season begins around the first of June and ends around August, depending on weather trends for that year. To purchase your Smith County watermelon, contact a local grower, or just stop by your favorite roadside produce stand. Most supermarkets within 50 miles of the county also sell Smith County watermelons. What are you waiting for? Go pick one up and taste the Smith County difference!
