Smith County Solid Waste Department

The Smith County Solid Waste Department oversees residential and commercial trash collection and disposal for areas outside of municipalities. To sign up for solid waste services, contact 601-782-4000.

Smith County Department of Health

Public health protection takes a wide variety of forms, from ensuring the safety of your food and water to setting standards for health and care facilities. Mississippi's State Board of Health was established in 1877 to protect and advance health throughout Mississippi, and became the Mississippi State Department of Health in 1982.  The Department of Health is involved health protection, health promotion and health planning, and affects you and your health every day, throughout your life. The MSDH has offices in every county across the state, and those county offices handle health issues inside that county. You can contact the Department of Health at ​601-782-4472.

Smith County Department of Human Services

The Smith County Department of Human Services is a public resource for families and individuals. Responsibilities of this department include child support, social services, and economic assistance. You can contact the Department of Human Services at 601-782-4505.

Smith County Department of Veterans Affairs

The Smith County Department of Veterans Affairs is a public resource for Veterans, Service Members, Surviving Spouses, and Veterans' families. The primary goal of this office is to assist these residents in receiving any and all federal and state benefits for which they are eligible.
